Beautiful baby bonnet!

Here are the pics of Emmie in her new bonnet (I just like the word bonnet!! :) that we won thanks to Mimi's great contests!
I wanted a big grinning shot, but as she's not too fond of grass, and still isn't sure about hats either, grins were not high on her priority list. These are the best we could do for now. (But they're pretty darn cute, if I say so myself!)
These two were the closest I got to a grin! When she wasn't trying to get her legs off the grass, she was trying to get the hat off her head!
And she did now and then :)
But then we found a leaf...
and managed to stay distracted enough
to leave it on long enough for me to get...
this one. I love it. And I love her.
And I really love the bonnet. :)
Thanks again, Mimi!
TTFN,

P.S. Is anyone else having trouble posting pics? Blogger's giving me fits with spacing and arranging! I've been tring for 2 days to put these up!!

Bouncin Wild!

Yesterday was Jacob's first field trip!
We went to Bouncin Wild-a new bump-n-jump place.
As I got ready , I realized I didn't have a single sock that
didn't have at least one hole in it
(insert red face here,)
so our first stop was the Dollar
Store to buy me some cause you have to wear socks to play
Then we stopped at the Chevron for some
totally stinkin delicious not on my diet Krispy Kreme doughnuts,
a Coke for me, and a Bug juice for Jacob.

We arrived at Bouncin Wild shortly after the bus, and the fun began!
Climbin' up...

And sliding back down...

over...

and over...
and over...
and over...
till mom stops you for pics with her...
and Colby and Henry!
We had a blast.
I actually have more pics, but blogger is giving me fits with the pics tonight! :(
BTW, Kelli, I took several other pictures of Henry. If you will send me your
email address, I'll send them to you!

Super sappy...

Wow...I figured out how to make my signature show up everytime without me having to copy and paste the HTML each time, and how to make it centered-and I did it all by myself!!
~Anyway~
It's getting close to mine and Paul's anniversary! In fact, when I made the ticker, it surprised me just HOW close it is-only 11 days away!
We've been together a long time! :)
We'll be celebrating 13 years married on April 27th.
We will be celebrating 15 years together this June.
That's pretty much half my life.
And I still love him more than life itself.
He is truly my soulmate-the one God meant just for me.
And I knew it from the moment I met him.
Thank you, Lord for my honey.
You gave me a true gift.
I love only You more than him.
But You already knew that, didn't You?
Amen, and Amen.
I might even post some OLD pics of us on a flashback Friday.
Maybe.

(would be)Wordless Wednesday

"Noah, Smile!!"

"NO WAY, MOMMA!"
(Yes, that is really what he is saying!)
Notice the haircut-so sad all his curls are gone!!
(except the one stubbornly sticking off the side of his head!)
I may never cut it again!!!! :(

Oh! Happy Day!

It's been a wild week here, with spring break, snotty noses, unexplained fevers, unseasonably cold weather, my baby girl turning 10 months, yard work, Easter eggs, carrot cakes, and (shudder) the first snake of the season.
I won't go into all of that because it would take way too much time.

But I would like to talk about my Emmie for a second-she did turn 10 months on Tuesday. I was all ready to sit down and blog about her milestones and her personality. I decided that first I would read everyone else's blogs for the day, just to catch up.
The first one I clicked on was Bring The Rain at
And it brought me up short.
If you don't know Angie's story, go grab you a box of tissues and get ready for one of the most moving stories you will ever read-written by one of the most faithful Christian woman bloggers I have ever read. Long story short, Tuesday would have her daughter Audrey's first birthday. I cried through her post and was amazed by her faith-again.
I was rendered completely unable to write anything.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think for a second that I should have felt bad for being proud of my baby. I did feel, however, that out of respect I would write about it later. Honestly, though, I did spend the rest of the day alternately thanking God for my healthy babies and then feeling guilty for doing so. Irrational, I know. Does anyone else feel that way? Like talking about your healthy kids will make a mother who's suffered loss feel bad.
Anyway.
Emmie isn't walking yet, but she stands unassisted for extended periods of time, and she pushes her hippo all over the living room-sometimes waving as she goes by!
And Ashton gave her her first mohawk in the tub the other day

She says mama, dada, bye-bye (complete with the backward wave,) and uh-oh. She has a smile for everyone-and I mean everyone. She gets a lot of attention from her smile at home, but she really turns it on in public. Her new favorite thing is shaking her head no. She doesn't know that's what it means, of course, but it's SOOO cute and we all do it with her. She had 5 teeth, 3 on top and 2 on bottom until today-the 4th one on top finally broke through.
So, after the cold weather I mentioned messed up the beginning of the week, the weekend has been beautiful. Paul and I worked in the yard all day-me on the mower, and he (with some help from Ashton) planting the beautiful flowers and pink flowering dogwood tree that he bought me. I will post pics of these later. Toward the end of the day, Paul flagged me over to look in a 5 gallon bucket. Ashton had found this guy-

under one of our big oak trees. Note the arrow shaped head. He might be little, but he's definitely poisonous. Needless to say, we had to 'do away' with him. Ash asked that we give him a proper burial-always the animal advocate.

Tonight we dyed Easter eggs. We have some really interesting decorations. Fun!

I wanted to end with an Easter story that I think about every year, but have never written down. It's probably one of my favorite stories from when Sydney was little. I think she was 4.

We had been to church and Sydney had a little Jesus on a popcicle stick. As soon as we got home, she asked me for a paper towel roll. I managed to come up with one, and watched as she played with her popcicle-stick-Jesus, setting the paper towel roll aside. As she played, she told the Easter story. I was really impressed how well she remembered the story, and was enjoying the play. Then she stuffed her little popcicle-stick-Jesus into the paper towel roll and sat it to the side, looking at me proudly. Unable to resist, I asked her why she put Jesus in the paper towel roll. She looked at me in her best didn't you pay attention at church? look and sighed.

"You know, Momma! Three days later, He a-rose from the tube!"

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here.
Mark 16:4-6

Praise God! He is not here-He arose from the tube!!

Remember the real reason for Easter, and then have a wonderful one!

If momma ain't happy...

We all know how the saying goes-If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
I've been thinking about that saying a lot lately, and I'm not at all sure that's how it should go. I think it would be more appropriate to say
If baby ain't happy, ain't nobody-especially momma-happy.
As moms I think we spend most of our time trying to ensure that everyone else is indeed happy, and when they're not, then we are unhappy too.
After following MckMama's very stressful journey with Stellan's SVT, I see this personified in her walk. It is so difficult to see our little ones sick, especially when there is nothing we can do for them. Well, that's not entirely accutate-we can pray-but being human gives us the driving desire to be able to fix things for ourselves. We feel like there is nothing we can do. That's where faith comes in, hopefully, and gives us strength to endure what's going on with our children. Strength to stand at the bedside of a sick baby and be able to do nothing except pray. And strength to let that just be ok, knowing that the God we serve is all powerful and in control-even when we are not.
Now my friend Konnie's baby, Easton, is in the Children's Hospital in Orlando. They are supposed to be having a wonderful family vacation at Disney World, but he began having breathing difficulties and was taken to the ER. He has been diagnosed with RSV. Thankfully it is treatable, unlike Stellan's SVT, but it is still difficult for mom and dad. Please be in prayer for the whole family as they are separated-Isaac and the older boys are stuck at the hotel (the boys are not allowed on the floor where Easton is) and Konnie and Easton are stuck in the hospital. Pray for a speedy recovery, and a safe trip home.
And let me know if you agree-If baby ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!
TTFN,

P.S. I am trying new things on my blog, just playing around until I get it the way I want it. Please let me know if there is something that you like or don't like (i.e. the music player? Is it annoying? Is it too loud? Etc.) Just a little input if you will. :)
