Jacob's field trip

Yesterday I got to go on Jacob's first field trip with him!
(Thank you, Mrs. Linda for keeping the littles)

We went here:

This is our local children's museum. Can you see my little
man in the shadows up there?? I wanted him to stand on
the top, but that black metal rail completely covered his face.

They have lots of exhibits, some are large areas designed for
imaginitive play, some are areas for learning, and our guide told the
kids they could touch anything they could reach.

And they did! They had a blast!!

'All aboard the choo-choo train, all aboard, all aboard!
Choo-choo!*'

*this is the song from Choo-choo Soul, if you don't
watch The Disney Channel.

Hey, Skipper, where's Gilligan?

Pull!!

Time for a spot of tea.

This was a giant climbing apparatus that went from floor
to ceiling through the middle of the building.
(yeah, well, saying 'apparatus' sounds better
than saying 'thingy')
Jacob loved it!!

After our time inside, we went out to the picnic area and
ate our sack lunches. Strangely I don't have any pictures
of this. Maybe I just didn't want any evidence of me
stuffing my face like a hog eating. :)

Jacob's class (most of them)
Cheese!

Silly face!!

I wish this picture had come out better. I think my camera
focused on the tree instead of Jacob. I suppose it is the bigger
object in the shot!

Notice the boo-boo on Jacob's chin that isn't in the rest of the
pictures. He fell outside and managed to skin his chin and
the insides of his elbows. I still haven't figured out how he
did that!

Other than the fall, it was a wonderful day. I love that I got to
spend the day with just Jacob. We don't get time alone too often.
He's a wonderful, sweet boy, and I adore him!

Thank you, Jacob, for letting me tag along!

What goes around...

In a large household germs are never your friend.

The weekend we flew to Houston, Paul was sick.

That following week Jacob had Bronchitis.

That next weekend Emmie got croup.

This week Noah has had croup.

Imagine living with harbor seals.

That's what it has sounded like in my house.

Nonstop barking!

And now, of course,

I am getting sick.

What goes around comes around, right?

Yeah, the party never stops! ;)

Hmmph. (cough, cough, sniffle)

Jump Start Review and Giveaway!

I am excited to be able to review and blog about
JumpStart! Both my older girls played JumpStart
when they were little on CD-ROM and LOVED it!

Let me give you a bit of background-we are a game
playing family. We play everything; board games,
card games, computer games, Nintendo games, and
everyone's new favorite is our Wii. I knew there wouldn't
be any trouble getting into the JumpStart world again!

I let Jacob play and he was excited because I don't
usually let him use my laptop, so it was double
fun! He jumped right in with both feet!!

I think that even with all the great games, his
absolute favorite thing to do was create his own
character. He loved making a person that looked
like him and then dressing himself up! I didn't
think we'd ever get beyond that step.
This is the Jumpee Builder (not Jacob's, obviously!)

Jumpee Builder
They get to pick a silly name:
Jacob's character's name is Jacob Lavacomet!
Too funny!

His favorite place to play was Storyland. He loved
the Learning House. And with him going to Kindergarten
this year, I loved it too! He also enjoyed the dressing tent,
the Library, and the Slide!

Story Land
There is a 'Ghost Town' and he wouldn't even
go in there. He's a bit of a 'fraidycat. :)

I also love that they have parent's areas and a blog
that has family fun suggestions such as craft
ideas and science projects disguised as games!

I think it's a great program, and Jacob really did
love playing it. It is fairly easy for the little ones
to navigate once they do it a few times.

One thing that I think is a pro and con is that it
has SO many areas to explore and games to play
that it might be a bit overwhelming.
Jacob kept going back and doing the same stuff
over and over and I wondered if it was because
there was just too much to choose from!
Like I said, though, that's a good thing too-the
kids can do lots of things and not get bored.

Now for the good stuff-A Giveaway!!

JumpStart has graciously offered a three month
subscription to a lucky reader!
All you have to do is leave me a comment and tell
me who would get to play JumpStart at your house!
Want more chances? Follow me and leave another
comment for another entry. Blog about my giveaway
and leave me another comment to let me know and
get one more entry. Grab my button and leave...
Well, I think you know the drill. :)

The contest will be closed Friday morning, September
the 18th. I will let the wonderful random number
generator choose the lucky winner then annonuce
it shortly thereafter! Good luck!

Wordless Wednesday-At play.

Anyone else notice their pics become blurry in blogger?
These pics weren't blurry before. Just wondering.

A conversation...

One day last week, I after I made Jacob's sandwich
I took my giant heart cookie cutter and cut his
sandwich in the shape of a heart. I didn't say anything
to him, I wanted it to be a surprise.

I waited all afternoon for him to say something,
anything about the sweet heart sandwich
I made for him.

He never said anything.

DAYS went by.

He still didn't say anything.

Finally, night before last, at supper, he remembered.

Jacob, 'Hey! One day my sandwich was shaped
like a heart!'
Me, (in all my wide-eyed innocence) 'You cut your
sandwich in the shape of a heart?'
Jacob, 'No! It was already like that!'
Me, 'Who could have made it in the shape of a heart??'
Jacob, (giggling) 'Ummm...'
Me, 'I bet it was those sandwich fairies! They do silly
things like cut sandwiches into shapes!'
Jacob, (giggling harder) 'Noooo, I don't think so!'
Me, (still completely baffled ;) Well, I wonder who
else would have cut a heart shape for you...'
Jacob, (after pondering for a moment, very serious now)
'Maybe it was God!!'

After my heart finished melting, I said, 'Well, God certainly
does love you that much.'

He smiled his little sweet smile like he was certain he
was right and began eating his supper again.

And all was right in my world. :)

Is it possible?

Is it possible that my little man is now my big man?
Kindergarten, really??
I guess he'll have to be my little-big man.
See the size 3 pants and the size 2 polo?
He wouldn't smile for Paul!!
With the girls-Ash couldn't get her hair to cooperate!! :)
The teacher had bins of toys and puzzles on the tables for
everyone to play with-I think it helped break the ice!
Jacob and I are lining up dominoes to knock over!
That's his teacher over my right shoulder.
We got to go to breakfast with him before we went to a little
parent's meeting with all the other parents and other teachers
and so he sat by dad! When it was time to say goodbye, he
cried!! I was so surprised-he's usually really good about
us leaving him, but I think having to get up so early
combined with how overwhelming it all was got to him.
I did fine, though!
I love this little-big man. He's so smart and funny and
well-behaved. I know he's going to have a great time and
that he will do wonderfully this year!

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me Monday!
Therapy for all the perfect moms out there-
like me!
Brought to you by
MckMama
Hop on over and see she and all the
other moms are not doing this week!

We do not have 3 birthdays within the first two
weeks of August. We have not had 2 of the 3 already.
As such, I have not had ridiculous amounts of cake since
August 1. And I certainly have not eaten my weight in
chocolate cake just this weekend.
Nope. Not me!

We didn't have a slumber party for Sydney on Friday
night. There were at no point giggly girls all over my house.
And at no time did they decide to go skinny-dipping!
I was not extremely thankful that is was basically dark
outside and didn't make them stop their 'nude water ballet!!'
Seriously, people. Could I make this stuff up?!?

The girls did not start school on Wednesday. Summer
could not possibly be over, cause, ya know, it just started
last week, right?? Time totally doesn't fly.

And speaking of time not flying, Jacob did not go to school on
Friday. I know this because my Jacob could not possibly
be old enough to go to kindergarten! He's just too little!
If he had gone, which he didn't, remember, his uniform
pants couldn't possibly have been a size 3-and his polos only
a size 2!! (See!! I told you he is little!!) My little man. :)

See you again next week for the next installment!
Or not!

There and back again-a vacation story in pictures. (Post #99!!!)

Disclaimer:
This is a LONG picture post. I will type as little
as possible.
You're welcome.

Ok, so this isn't a vacation pic-but my hair is straight
and that NEVER happens and I wanted everyone
to see it. Thank you Mary for using your Chi so well!

Now for the vacation:
The kids on the porch at Priester's Pecans.

Another pic by Paul on the top of Stone Mountain.
I didn't freak out when I saw this one-then I realized
it's the zoomed one...

this is the actual shot! Paul swears they weren't
in as much danger as it looks!! He says they weren't
actually sitting on the edge of the world
mountain, that it gently sloped down behind them
and there was even a fence. Humph.

I thought this was a really cool shot.

This is the mountain face-it has a beautiful intricate
relief of three Confederate heroes (Davis, Lee, and Grant,) and they do a
fantastic laser light show right on the mountain itself!

There are tons of other things to do-check out their website!
This is just us! :)

Waiting for the show to start! It was the Fourth of
July show and it was fantastic! I totally didn't cry!
(Yeah, yeah, I know it's not Monday!)
Now for the Six Flags and White Water pics!
This is me with my Wonder Woman cape that
Paul won for me.
Totally appropriate, I think! Hehe!
Nothing like a family Fourth of July pic with
Tweety Bird!
Jacob and Batman! He was so excited that Batman
spoke!! (Cause none of the cartoon characters did)

Paul and Noah on the Carousel.
A bit of trivia:
A carousel goes counter-clockwise,
a merry-go-round goes clockwise.
That's the only difference!
Love Marvin the Martian!!
Paul chillaxin at the water park!
Syd cheesin in the pool.
Ash also cheesin in the pool!
Jacob cheesin in the pool!
(getting redundant...sorry!)
Noah playing at the kiddie pool. He had a
blast at the water park!!
Emmie just being Emmie.
Paul fought the no-nap monster and won!
Paul with friends from church-
Mandy, her son Noah, and Lindsay!
Ashton and Emmie looking down from the
sky bucket.
Syd riding the trucks with Noah!
Me and Emmie riding the trucks. Also my
favorite pic-taken by Sydney. :)
We had a great time! It wasn't too hot, and we spent
lots of family time together! It was wonderful.
I have tons more pics, but I figure that's enough!!
I wish blogger had a simpler uploader.
Anyone know a faster way to upload pics?
