Inspiration unexpected...

I just wanted to apologize...my last post was full of whining and complaining. I try to keep a positive attitude, and I reread my last words, and didn't like them. My daughter was beautiful, and she had a good time and that's all that should matter to me. Forgive me for griping. I think I am just exhausted. Emmie still doesn't sleep at night. In fact, it's so bad that Paul has moved into our upstairs room just so he is able to get up and go to work in the mornings! I have been so tired and just going through the motions, and wondering when it will end, and then I read MckMama's blog tonight, and she had a poem on there that stopped me cold. It is beautiful and poignant, and because Emmie is my fifth child, it was especially moving to me. I've copied and pasted it for you all to read;

Song for a Fifth Child.

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
~Ruth Hulburt Hamilton~

It's funny how God puts people in our path to remind us where our focus should be.
Thank you for the perspective, MckMama.
With happy tears and blessed thankfulness...
Jen

I really liked the poem too!! I should really work on having a positive attitude!! I think I am too much of a realist though!!
